The 38th Annual Contest is On!

Is your reporting good enough to be called the best of the best in Indiana? It’s time to find out.

The 2016 Best in Indiana Journalism Awards is now calling for entries.

The contest, sponsored by the Indiana Professional chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists has been completely updated and is better than ever. Contest categories include print, television, radio and online journalism. Download the contest brochure to the right and, when ready, submit your best work via the easy-to-use online system.

Other highlights include:

  • Both SPJ members and non-members are invited to participate.
  • News organizations are encouraged to submit work on behalf of their staffs, but individuals are also welcome to enter their work.
  • Per-entry fee still just $20 for professionals and $15 for students.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I nominate myself for awards?
Yes. However, some special categories like Journalist of the Year work better when you’re sponsored by an editor or news director. Please check the submission rules for full details.

Who judges the contest?
Volunteers in other SPJ chapters from around the country judge our contest in order to keep the process impartial. In exchange, SPJ-Indiana chapter members are recruited to judge other chapters’ award contests. If you would like to volunteer to be a judge, please email spjawards@gmail.com.

How long has this contest been around?
The contest has honored the best of the best for more than 37 years. This is the 38th annual contest.

Can I submit entries online?
Yes. All entries except books should be submitted online.
